The Bennett Centre for Fact-checking and Digital Integrity (BCFDI) is a pioneering initiative of the Times School of Media at Bennett University, launched to address the critical challenges posed by misinformation, disinformation, and digital manipulation. The Centre was formally inaugurated on the eve of Independence Day 2025, by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Bennett University Prof. (Dr) Raj Singh. The Centre’s purpose is to equip the community with practical skills and knowledge in media verification, ethical digital practices, and fact-checking methodologies. BCFDI operates a student-managed digital verification newsroom, organises workshops, and produces multilingual media literacy content to combat misinformation effectively. Through research, outreach, strategic collaborations, and production of daily Instagram explainers and myth-busting reels, BCFDI demonstrates effective verification techniques by breaking down viral claims with clear step-by-step analyses. Beyond social posts, the centre conducts workshops, hosts student research squads, and collaborates on institutional capacity-building in combating digital deception. BCFDI bridges theoretical learning and real-time digital vigilance. Its mission is to foster a culture of digital integrity and empower individuals to navigate the complex information landscape with confidence.
To establish a benchmark for excellence in digital verification, critical thinking, and media responsibility—empowering society to become champions of truth and integrity. Empowering societies to navigate the complex information landscape with confidence.
We create an ecosystem where students and faculty develop, apply, and disseminate fact-checking and verification skills grounded in journalistic ethics and technological tools.
We harness interdisciplinary expertise to conduct research on misinformation, its impacts, and solutions specifically within the Indian context.
The Centre serves as a bridge between education, the media industry, and civic institutions to address growing threats like fake news and digital manipulation.
